A long night, well suited to the room
The Oscars run for hours, which makes them a poor fit for a restaurant that needs to turn tables and a very good fit for one that does not mind a room settling in. The full-screen projector that served World Cup matches did the same job here.
Taking reservations directly rather than through OpenTable was deliberate. Event nights need the restaurant to control seating times rather than a platform slotting people in every fifteen minutes.
Film nights generally
Commissary has also screened films outside awards season — the 12 Days of Commissary run included a full day of holiday films building to a Miracle on 34th Street screening at 8 PM, and Movie Night has appeared as its own event.
