Commissary hires year-round across the kitchen, the bar and the floor. Applications run through one form for the whole EatWell DC group.
Apply now
All applications for Commissary and the other EatWell DC restaurants go through a single hiring form. Emailed CVs are not tracked by the hiring managers, so the form is genuinely the faster route.
Roles we hire for
A restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner every day needs depth in every department.
- Front of house
- Servers, hosts, bussers and food runners. Breakfast, brunch and dinner shifts each have a distinct rhythm and most staff work across them.
- Bar
- Bartenders and barbacks. The bar runs a full cocktail program plus a long happy hour, so volume and technique both matter.
- Kitchen
- Line cooks, prep cooks and dish. Breakfast prep starts early; the line covers three services without a full reset in between.
- Management
- Floor managers and assistant managers. Several current managers started here in service roles.
What the work is actually like
Worth knowing before you apply, because the schedule here is unusual.
- Early starts exist
- Someone opens this building at 7 AM so the doors can open at 8. If mornings are not for you, say so — there are plenty of evening-weighted schedules.
- The menu is broad
- Staff learn breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, kids, dessert and a full beverage list. It is more to hold in your head than a single-service restaurant.
- Weekend brunch is the peak
- Saturday and Sunday mornings are the hardest and best-paid shifts of the week.
- Promotion from within is normal
- The management structure is deliberately staffed from the floor where possible.
How hiring works
Submit the form
One form covers every EatWell DC restaurant. Name the role and the location you want.
Screening call
A short conversation about availability, experience and which shifts suit you.
Trail shift
For most roles you will work a paid trail with the team you would be joining. It goes both ways — you are assessing us too.
Offer and onboarding
Paperwork, training schedule and menu study. Service staff train with the head server; bar staff with the bar manager.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I apply for a job at Commissary DC?
Through the EatWell DC application form linked on this page. It covers Commissary and the group’s other restaurants.
Do you accept CVs by email?
Emailed CVs are not tracked in the hiring system, so applications sent that way are easy to miss. Use the form.
Do I need restaurant experience?
For bar and line roles, yes. For host, busser and runner roles, attitude and availability count for more than a CV.
What shifts are available?
Openings run from early morning through to close, seven days a week. Weekend brunch shifts are the busiest and are usually the first to be filled.
Is there a trail shift?
Yes, for most roles. It is paid, and it is as much about you seeing the kitchen or floor as it is about us seeing you.
Do you hire for the other EatWell restaurants too?
The same form covers Logan Tavern, Grillfish, The Pig, The Charles and Market at LP.
